Coffee, tea, red wine and smoking all leave stains on enamel over time. Professional whitening breaks down those stains safely under a dentist’s supervision.
In-office vs. at-home whitening
In-office whitening uses a stronger gel, activated with light, and takes about an hour. At-home kits use custom trays and a milder gel over one to two weeks. Many patients combine both.
Is it safe for my teeth?
When done by a dentist, yes. Your gums are protected before the gel is applied, and the concentration is chosen to suit your teeth. Temporary sensitivity is common and usually fades within a day or two.
Making results last
- Avoid strongly coloured food and drinks for 48 hours
- Rinse with water after coffee or tea
- Keep up with professional cleaning every six months
Note: whitening does not change the colour of existing fillings, crowns or veneers.
